What We Do In This Class And Why:


Independence - for the first 30 minutes of class, you child will work with the teacher and other students. You and any siblings only join in for the last 15 minutes of class.


Singing - fosters the development of your child's most important instrument-his voice-through vocal exploration, songs and chants.

Moving - develops body awareness, coordination and spatial relationships through synchronized movement, creative movement and simple dances.

Instrument play - introduces a variety of timbres with percussion instruments like rhythm sticks, bells, resonator bars, drums. It also fosters fine motor skills and the ability to feel and play rhythm.

Patterning - boosts your child's ability to think musically through the integration of basic rhythmic and tonal language. Learning by repeating songs and patterns is fundamental to the development of good musical memory.

Listening - heightens your child's attentiveness to sound discrimination. Exploring musical concepts & terms such as: timbre, dynamics, pitch, tempo & rhythm, which lay the foundation for understanding the elements of music.

Musical Exposure to a wide variety of musical styles and cultures.

Class Information:

45 minute class (adult & any siblings join in the last 15 minutes)

15 week semester

Home materials include: 2 CDs, 2 literature books, a themed play set, a home activity book, a specially designed instrument, an optional backpack and weekly email bulletins.
